7 WAYS TO STAY FIT WHILE TRAVELING

Whether you travel for work or for pleasure, staying in your workout routine in some way can have huge benefits for your health. In order to feel your best while being in a different city, state or country it's a good idea to stick to some positive habits. I'm all for resting and putting my feet up on vacation, but to be honest, when I get too sedentary for too long I don't feel great. So, here are my 7 tips for keeping yourself feeling your best while traveling:

  1. Walk as much as you can - Even you're traveling on a work trip, try and squeeze a walk into your lunch break or dinner break so that you can get your legs moving and get your heart-rate up. Walking is incredibly beneficial for our bodies and I aim to walk 3-4 miles a day at home and on vacation so that if I am indulging in rich meals I will still be able to digest better and sleep better.

  2. Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate - Traveling usually means eating out more, drinking more and having new exciting foods on a daily basis! Eating new foods and dining out are some of the best parts of vacations, but it also causes us to feel bloating/fatigue. I aim to drink close to a gallon of water a day while traveling so that my body feels better amidst the change of environment.

  3. FIND AN ONLINE WORKOUT YOU LOVE - Okay, obviously I have to plug Travelfit here! The reason virtual workouts have stuck around after the pandemic is because they are so amazingly convenient and you don't even need to change out of your pajamas to do them! Travelfit has videos that are 5- 45 mins long-So no matter the amount of time you have, what you're wearing, or where you are, you can get a fantastic workout.

  4. Pack comfortable activewear - Motivation easily comes when you have comfortable, cute activewear that inspires you to move. When I travel, I pack my cosiest activewear so that I am reminded to move as much as I can. The moment I put on my cozy leggings, I want to sweat and feel those magical endorphins.

  5. Grab a friend, coworker or family member - Some of the fondest memories I have are working out with friends. Need to have some fellowship in your movement? Grab a friend to rent a video with you or join you on zoom for a class. Sweat alongside each other and grab a post workout smoothie or coffee after!

  6. Schedule a private session - Private Clients have the huge benefit of accountability. If you're someone that struggles with motivation and needs someone to hold you accountable, online private training is perfect. Sometimes all you need is someone to have on your computer with you while you're traveling to keep you in your routine and feeling your best.

  7. Find a peaceful outside space - Fitness is not only about strength, but about the mind. Even if I don't squeeze in a workout, sometimes I just find a peaceful outdoors spot and stretch for 5 minutes, breathe deeply for 5 minutes or sit in silence to reflect on the day.
